273 Poshan Vatika The Nutrition Garden in Narayanpur Anganwadis

Now pregnant and malnourished children will get nutritious food only from the nutrition garden of Anganwadi center
A nutrition garden has been constructed in 273 Anganwadi in Narayanpur district.

With the help of Women and Child Development Department in Anganwadi centers of Narayanpur district, Anganwadi workers, assistants along with the women of the village have prepared a nutrition garden. With this, they are now getting fresh, green and nutritious vegetables. The nutrition garden will improve the health of pregnant women and malnourished children. The Anganwadi centers are currently closed due to Corona virus infection, the material being distributed to the beneficiaries is being distributed by Anganwadi workers to their doorstep. Under the nutrition campaign, nutrition vessels have been constructed under the guidance of the officers and supervisors of the Women and Child Development Project. During inspection at Anganwadi centers, it was felt that due to non-availability of regular green, fresh vegetables, nutrition is coming down. After which, after discussing with the hot food preparation group, Anganwadi workers, assistants, it was decided to develop a nutritious garden. A nutrition garden has been prepared in 273 Anganwadi centers in Narayanpur district.

 Similarly, in rural areas which had adequate water and space facilities, a nutrition garden was prepared. Where seasonal green vegetables and bhaji are being produced at low cost from family labor and they will be distributed to Anganwadi centers to benefit children and expectant mothers. Methi Bhaji, Khatta Bhaji, Lal Bhaji, Onion Bhaji, Mirchi, Coriander Leaf, Gourd, Okra, Barbatti, Bhata, Semi, Papaya, Banana, Lemon, and Tomato etc. have been planted in the nutrition garden. The major attraction in this is that these vegetables are being produced with vermicompost and organic manure instead of chemical fertilizers. Due to this, there are abundant nutrients in vegetables.
The aim of creating a nutrition garden is to remove anemia and malnutrition in children and expectant mothers, so that the concept of malnutrition free and health Chhattisgarh can be realized, as well as to strengthen their economic status by making the women of the group self-reliant.
