"The Monarch Butterfly is classified as endangered. Many ecosystems across the continent of North and South America depend on Monarch Butterflies for pollination. However due to habitat loss, climate change, forest destruction and use of pesticides, the monarch population is steadily declining."

DESCRIBE YOUR CHILDHOOD/GROWING YEARS
I grew up in a loving family environment with a sibling, where both of my parents worked long hours. Since my grandparents stepped in to care for us, I spent much time at their house. It was there that I developed a love for the environment. I enjoyed helping my grandfather in the yard while he taught me how to plant flowers and vegetables. He showed me how to identify and remove invasive plants. Spending time with him in nature curated my care for the environment and our ecosystem.

WHAT IS YOUR MEMORABLE MOMENT?
My most memorable moment is obtaining a 501c3 status for my non-profit organization.

ANY SPECIAL STORIES OR FACTS ABOUT YOUR FAMILY?
As the family historian, I was able to discover that I share a common ancestor with a United States first lady and several international celebrities!

WHAT IS THE MOST UNUSUAL THING YOU HAVE EVER DONE?
The most unusual thing I have done is join my University’s comedy improv acting troupe.

WHAT TIPS CAN YOU SHARE TO PROMOTE ECOTOURISM & CLIMATE CHANGE?
I believe it is important to use education to promote ecotourism and climate change. Through my non-profit, I developed an Environmental Education program that raises environmental awareness, while igniting cognitive skills to combat climate change. Through education, we can promote a safer and healthier environment.

WHAT MAKES YOU PROUD OF YOUR COUNTRY?
The United States is one of the most diverse countries in the world. I am proud to represent a nation that embraces all ethnic backgrounds and cultures, while continuing to thrive in technology and innovation. I am proud that the United States has reclaimed its position as an international leader in environmental justice and that our people are fighting to enact laws to keep our planet and people healthy.

WHAT IS YOUR ADVOCACY?
My advocacy is Environmental Education to ensure that every child has access to education. I developed a non-profit environmental education program specifically designed for disadvantaged children. There are many academic programs for children, but through specific learning techniques, such as question-formulation and hands-on experience, Bringing Me Sunshine’s environmental education program develops academic enrichment, self-confidence, and environmental literacy. Although the program was designed for disadvantaged children, all children can benefit and learn about sustainability and the 5 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rethink & Respect).

Image: This year's national costume for #MissEarthUSA was created by Pixton Design Group of Charlotte, North Carolina. The bald eagle is the national bird of the United States of America and appears on its seal. In the late 20th century, the beautiful bird was on the brink of extinction in the contiguous United States. The fierce beauty and proud independence of this great bird aptly symbolizes the strength and freedom of America.
