Collector Dr. Bharatidasan chairs Vermi Compost Production, Sale and Use Workshop

The Collector emphasized on the use of vermi compost by selecting progressive farmers in every village: District level workshop on the production, sale and use of vermi compost

In the presence of  Collector Dr. S. Bharatidasan, a one-day district-level workshop on the production, sale and use of Vermi Compost was organized under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana in the hall of the Deputy Director Agriculture today.
On this occasion, District President Dharsiva Smt. Uttara Kumari, Chief Executive Officer, District Panchayat Raipur Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Garden, Fisheries, Krishi Vigyan Kendra along with the officer-employee, Krishak Mitra, Krishi Sakhi and Animal Sakhi were present. It is noteworthy that block level workshop was also organized in Arang, Abhanpur and Tilda development blocks of the district.
The workshop was inaugurated online by the District Panchayat President Smt. Domeshwari Verma. In the program, the collector emphasized on reducing the use of chemicals in crops and using cow dung and organic manure for the quality of crops. He asked to select 5-6 progressive farmers in each village of the district to use vermi compost in their fields and also to motivate farmers by organizing crop demonstrations in collaboration with Krishak Mitra. He informed that the use of Vermi Compost is being emphasized widely by the Chief Secretary of the state. This organic fertilizer is available at Gothan and is fully certified.
A target has been set by the Chief Executive Officer, District Panchayat Raipur to sell at least 1 quintal of vermicompost every day to all the Rural Agricultural Extension Officers, Krishi Sakhi and Pashu Sakhi. The Deputy Director Agriculture gave detailed information about the Gowdhan Nyay Yojana, Vermi compost production, sale, use, material made from cow dung, organic pesticides and other manufactured products. He gave information about soil health scheme. The joint director livestock department gave detailed information about the backyard poultry unit scheme, goat rearing, poultry, egg production and sale. The use of vermicompost on fisheries by Deputy Director Fisheries, Principal Scientist and Program Coordinator of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dr. Gautam Rai gave information about the method of making vermi compost, the detail of quality and usage, and the use of vermi compost in vegetable class crops by Deputy Director Garden.
