India has announced two days national morning with national flag at half-mast.
PM Narendra Modi has paid tribute to The Singing Legend Lata Mangeshkar saying “I am anguished beyond words. The kind and caring Lata Didi has left us. She leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled. The coming generations will remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious voice had an unparalleled ability to mesmerize people.”

PM condoles the passing away of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar

Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the passing away of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. The Prime Minister has spoken to her family and expressed his condolences. He also said that the coming generations will remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious voice had an unparalleled ability to mesmerise people.

In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said;

Two Days State Mourning from February 6th as a mark of respect on the passing away of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar

It is with profound sorrow that the Government of India announces the passing away of Sushri Lata Mangeshkar today. As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, the Government of India has decided that there will be two days State Mourning from today throughout India.

          The National Flag will be flown at half-mast from 06.02.2022 to 07.02.2022 throughout India and there will be no official entertainment.

          It has also been decided that a State Funeral will be accorded to Sushri Lata Mangeshkar.
