The collector inaugurated the paddy procurement work by offering puja at the Paddy Procurement Center at Daupara, District Headquarters.

Paddy procurement has started from today on support price under Kharif marketing year 2020-21. Paddy procurement will be done through 92 procurement centers of 66 committees of the district.

Paddy procurement will be purchased from registered farmers only. Collector PS Elma started a pioneering farmer-friendly campaign of the state government lasting two months by worshiping at the paddy procurement center at Daupara in the district headquarters.

On this occasion, he welcomed the farmers of village Sangwakapa, Shri Arjun and Jagdev Sahu, who came to sell paddy on support price. Collector Mr. Elma said that 82 thousand 754 farmers have been registered to sell paddy in the district this year on support price.

The target of procuring 34 lakh 55 thousand quintals of paddy from registered farmers is estimated. Paddy procurement work on support price will be done by 31 January 2021. He said that farmers selling paddy in the committee will not be allowed to face any kind of trouble.

In this sequence, Collector Mr. Elma instructed the committee manager Mr. Sahadev Patel to issue paddy tokens to the farmers respectively and earnestly purchase paddy. On this occasion, he also inspected the moisture measuring instrument and obtained information about computer sets, printers, UPS, two KVA generators, polythene covers, drainage material etc. from Paddy Purchase Officer in charge Mr. Om Prakash Dewangan and computer Mr. Ashish Soni.   In the same sequence, Mr. Arjun, the farmer reached the procurement center to sell paddy, said that he has planted a paddy crop in his own 4 acre field. Today 54 quintals of 80 kg of paddy have been brought by them for sale. Similarly, farmer Shri Jagdev Sahu told that he has also planted paddy crop in his own 2 acre 75 Dismil field. Today 30 quintals of paddy have been brought by them for sale. Selling paddy at the support price will fetch them more than the current market price. He thanked the government for this.

On this occasion, District Food Officer Shri Vimal Dubey, Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies Shri Uttar Kumar Kaushik and large number of farmers selling paddy were present.
