57.46 percent voters voted in the second phase
Counting of votes will be done at district headquarters on October 29
Jaipur, 23 October 2021. In Alwar and Dholpur districts of the state, 57.46 percent voters exercised their franchise in the second phase of elections for panchayat samiti member and zilla parishad member. The highest voting took place in Govindgarh Panchayat Samiti of Alwar district, where 62.98 percent voters cast their votes.
State Election Commission Commissioner PS Mehra informed that in the second phase, polling was held for 172 wards of 8 Panchayat Samitis of Alwar and Dholpur districts and their respective Zilla Parishad constituencies. 661 candidates are in the fray for Panchayat Samiti members.
'Over 5 lakh voters cast their votes'
Mehra informed that in the second phase, out of total 9 lakh 73 thousand 4 voters in both the districts together, 5 lakh 59 thousand 77 voters exercised their franchise.
'Commissioner expressed gratitude'
Mr. Mehra has thanked the voters for free, fair, peaceful and safe voting with all guidelines related to Corona. He said that the local administration and the conscious voters cast their votes safely with the compliance of Corona related guidelines.
The commissioner said that in the elections held in two districts, 10.18 percent voter turnout was recorded till 10 am. The voting percentage reached 22.15 at 12 noon. By 3 pm the percentage reached 43.25 and at 5 pm 55.97 per cent voters had cast their votes. By the end of voting, this percentage reached 57.46.
'Counting of votes will be done after all three phases of elections'
Mr. Mehra informed that the polling for the third phase will be conducted on October 26 from 8 am to 5 pm. After the completion of all the three phases, the counting of votes will be done at the district headquarters on October 29.
