Commercial tax department conducted simultaneous raids on suspected establishments of adulterated bio fuel and base oil all over the state, heavy tax evasion likely to be exposed
Jaipur, 23 October 2021. Taking major action, the Commercial Taxes Department has conducted simultaneous raids on 85 suspected establishments of adulterated bio fuel and base oil in the entire state. According to the information received, under the direction of Commissioner Ravi Jain, about 85 teams comprising about 300 officers were formed. During the proceedings, ITC reverse of Rs 1.10 crore was done from a businessman based in Pisangan and Rs 33 lakh in Bhilwara and cash is being recovered at other places. Facts related to issuing fake bills of goods by a Jaipur-based businessman have also been received, which are being examined by the department.
Illegal sale of adulterated bio fuel and base oil had led to a steady decline in the sale of diesel, leading to loss of VAT. The cost of adulterated bio fuel and base oil is 30 to 40 rupees less per liter than diesel. Base oil currently comes under the purview of GST. Some traders in the state were buying and selling base oil at 18 per cent GST on which ITC was also being claimed.
The proceedings, which started late Friday night, continued till late Saturday evening. According to officials, disturbances have been detected at many places, which is being assessed. Summons have been issued to these businessmen to present their records and after investigation and registration cancellation proceedings will be implemented. After investigation and audit of dealers, penalty, interest levy will be implemented.
