Rajasthan Body Election-2121: 9930 candidates for electoral post after withdrawal of nominations

Jaipur, 19 January 2020. A total of 9930 candidates have remained in the electoral fray after the withdrawal of nominations for member posts in 90 bodies (1 Municipal Corporation, 9 Municipal Council and 80 Municipality) in 20 districts of the state.

Chief Election Commissioner Shri PS Mehra said that till the last date of withdrawal, 2341 candidates withdrew their nominations, while 50 candidates have been elected unopposed. All these bodies will vote from 8 am to 5 pm on January 28, while counting of votes will take place on January 31, from 9 am.

Mr. Mehra said that with the release of public information for the post of member on January 11, the process of filling nomination papers had started. 18510 nomination papers were filed by 15101 candidates till the last deadline for filing nomination papers. He said that after scrutiny and withdrawal of nomination papers, now 9930 candidates are remaining in the election field.

More than 30 lakh voters will decide the fate of the candidates

Election Commissioner Shri PS Mehra informed that 20 districts of the state (Ajmer, Banswara, Bikaner, Bhilwara, Bundi, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh, Churu, Dungarpur, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Pali, Rajsamand, Sikar, Tonk And Udaipur) out of 90 bodies (1 Municipal Corporation, 9 Municipal Councils and 80 Municipalities), the final roll of electoral rolls of 87 municipal bodies has been published on 20 July 2020 while nominations of 3 bodies have been published on 19 November. Regarding the qualification of January 1, 2021, there are a total of 30 lakh 28 thousand 544 voters after the names added till January 4, out of which 15 lakh 47 thousand 974 men, 14 lakh 80 thousand 514 women and 56 other voters will be able to exercise their franchise. . He informed that polling will be held at 5253 polling stations for 3035 wards.

Strictly follow the Kovid guide line during election campaign

The Election Commissioner said that after the withdrawal of the nomination, there will be a round of campaigning, in such a way that Kovid's guidelines are not disregarded. He said that during the election campaign, the candidate or his supporters should not embrace anyone, do not touch anyone's feet nor shake hands with anyone. During the campaign, it is necessary to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the Center, State, Commission and local administration regarding the corona. He said that the commission intends to conduct a completely safe and peaceful vote. In this way, the cooperation of common people is mandatory.

Notification will be issued for president on February 1

Mr. Mehra informed that public information will be issued to the Chairman on February 1 after counting of the posts of the members. Nomination papers can be submitted by 2 pm on 3 February. He informed that the date of scrutiny of nomination papers will be on 3 February, while the candidature can be withdrawn by 3 PM on 4 February. Allotment of election symbols will be done on February 4, immediately after the withdrawal of names. Polling for the Speaker will be held from 7 am to 2 pm on February 7, while the counting of votes will take place immediately after the end of the voting. He informed that similarly the election for the vice president will be held on 8 February.
