Rescue Campaign to make Jaipur Beggary Free from 7th September

Jaipur, 31 August 2021: Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Labor and Skill Department and Police Department will jointly run a 'rescue campaign' from September 7 for begging-free Jaipur.

This decision was taken in a meeting of various departments held in the Directorate on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Shri OP Bunkar, Director, Social Justice and Empowerment Department.

Mr. Weaver informed that the campaign would be coordinated at the level of Social Justice and Empowerment Department. The objective of the campaign is to eradicate begging from Jaipur city and to rehabilitate beggars.

Shri Weaver informed that for this, beggars would be taken from different places of the city to four places identified by the Commissionerate of Police. The Social Justice and Empowerment Department will be responsible for their accommodation, food and rehabilitation. For rehabilitation, the Labor Department will arrange employment-oriented training through Skill Development and Livelihood Development Corporation.
The treatment management of the beggars whose health will be required will be at the level of the medical department.

By the Social Justice Department, such children who are involved in begging will be sent to the Department's Girls Home and Children Home. Similarly, beggars who are more than 60 years of age indulging in beggars will be sent to Old Age Homes.

Apart from senior officers of various departments, representatives of voluntary organizations were also present in the meeting.
