Bhopal: Saturday, May 30, 2020, Governor Lalji Tandon has said that taking the inspiration from the legacy and ideological commitment of the history of Indian journalism, the philosophy of journalism is the need of the hour according to the needs of today. Journalism is a reflection on the welfare of the underprivileged section of the society and the security of the nation on the basis of human values. University of Journalism will have to make determined efforts in this direction. Shri Tandon was addressing the inaugural session of the seven day-seven lecture organized by Makhanlal Chaturvedi Journalism University on the subject of education, journalism and life value on the occasion of Hindi Journalism Day from Raj Bhavan today. The acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Shri Sanjay Dwivedi was also present on the occasion.

Governor Shri Tandon said that journalism was started as a mission in India. The basis of this was an attempt to bring feelings to the masses. Emotions were formed against the slavery of the country. They had to be aired. Journalists made huge sacrifices for this. He told that when the knowledge and thinking of the society was written and its problems, it becomes a flame. In such journalism of freedom struggle there is a long series of names like Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Makhanlal Chaturvedi etc. Referring to various self-proclaimed blessed journalists for notable services in the field of journalism, he said that among the founders of the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Babu Ganga Prasad Verma, who set the example of mass awakening from small newspapers in Hindi, English and Urdu. Mahesh Nath Sharma, a freedom fighter journalist who came to jail for printing and forwarding newspapers from home, was a symbol of journalism's struggle and dedication to the nation.

Mr. Tandon recalled Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and said that he used to do all the work related to the newspaper himself. Used to write, edit and compose himself. There was only one assistant to run the machine. In his absence, he used to run the machine himself. Many times he was unconscious while driving the machine. In his journalism, it is only because of commitment, determination and dedication to ideas that today the model of development is his concept of Antyodaya. He recalled the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said that he edited several newspapers. He rose to the rank of Prime Minister. The only poets in the literary society who had social, economic and spiritual thought. The newspaper's foreword or lines of poetry set them apart from the whole group. Starting from journalism, many eminent persons have reached big positions. Journalism is also a source of entry into social, literary and political life. He also has a collection of conceptual richness.

He said that when the era of censorship came in the form of Emergency, Shri Ramnath Goenka kept the flame of journalism alive. He did not compromise with power. When he was told about the possibility of loss, he used to say that my ancestors had brought only lota. What will go below this? His sentence is a proud statement defining journalism. Referring to an incident with Prabhash Joshi, he said that when he raised voice against paid news during his election, Prabhash Joshi approached him and asked him to stand against the practice. Mr. Joshi went all over the country to produce a book regarding paid news. Through this, he was the first to voice the practice of paid news. Today the practice of paid news is controlled. His credit goes to Prabhash Joshi. He said that this episode is a successful example of a journalist's abilities to fulfill his commitment and determination to the values ​​of clean journalism. He said that for successful journalism, the motivation of the young generation should be taken by the qualities of these inspiration symbols of self-determination, commitment and fairness towards social concerns.
