On the second day of his visit to Jagdalpur to attend the world famour Bastar Dussehra, Pujari, Sirha, Gunia and community heads paid courtesy call on Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel. Upon his arrival at Girola, Chief Minister was accorded a warm welcome by the priests, Sirhas, Gunias and heads of tribal communities.
In his address to the program organized at Mata Hinglajin temple premise, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that a government is responsible for deveopment of roads, schools and buildings, but our government aims to develop people along with the development of roads, schools and buildings. Besides the nutrition and the malaria-Mukt Bastar campaign, we have started reopening the closed schools here. We have made arrangements to provide food grains to the poorest of the poor. Moreover, the economic condition of the people is continuously improving, as a result of the government's initiatives such as paddy procurement, forest produce procurement and processing, cow dung and tendu leaves collection and procurement. He said that state government will provide Rs 6 thousand per year to the landless labourers under Rajiv Gandhi Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana. In the program, Chief Minister announced that SDM office will be held for 15 days in a month and a stadium would also be built in Bakavand tehsil headquarters.
Chief Minister said that industries would be set up in Bastar without any acquisition of tribal land or displacement of tribal people. Factories and industrial units will be set up on government lands. 90 percent of the jobs created through these establishments will be provided to the local people. Bastar will have a whole new identity at national and international-level. Tamarind candy is being made from tamarind in Sukma, while Denex brand clothes from Dantewada are reaching other states. In a discussion with the heads of the communities, Chief Minister said that there would be no shortage of funds for the development of Bastar.
In the program, Minister of Industries and Commerce and in-charge of Bastar district Mr. Kawasi Lakhma, Member of Parliament Mr. Deepak Baij and Mrs. Phulodevi Netam, Chairman of Bastar Area Development Authority Mr. Lakheshwar Baghel, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Development Board Mr. Chandan Kashyap, MLA Mr. Rajman Benzam, Creda Chairman Mr. Mithilesh Swarnakar, Commissioner Mr. G.R. Churendra, Inspector General of Police Mr. Sundarraj P., Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Mohammad Shahid, Collector Mr. Rajat Bansal and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Jitendra Meena along with many public representatives and office-bearers and members of Ma Hinglajin Temple Committee were present.
