Weather based agriculture advice to the farmers of Chhattisgarh

Raipur, 09 June 2021 The officials of the state's Agriculture and Meteorological Department and Indira Gandhi Agricultural University have given weather-based agricultural advice to the farmers keeping in view the arrival of monsoon in Chhattisgarh. He has given necessary scientific advice regarding sowing of Kharif crops and fruits and vegetables as well as animal husbandry.

Agricultural scientists have said that cleaning of the field and repair of bunds must be done at this time. Make advance arrangements for seeds and fertilizers for planting Kharif crops. For organic farming of paddy, sow green manure crop like Dhencha/Sanai soon. Make advance arrangements for seeds and fertilizers for planting Kharif crops. Before transplanting or sowing of paddy, treat self-produced seeds with 17% salt solution. Be sure to treat certified or base grade seeds with the fungicide supplied in the packet. Arrange dung manure for paddy nursery. In the event of availability of assured irrigation means, to prepare paddy paddy, prepare nursery in about 1/10 of the total area under paddy transplantation, for this, the quantity of thick paddy varieties is 50 kg per hectare or thin paddy varieties. Apply seed at the rate of 40 kg per hectare. For sowing crops like soybean, maize, groundnut etc., prepare the fields by deep plowing, which destroys the perennial grass. In new sugarcane crop, weeding and irrigation should be done as per requirement.

Agricultural scientists have said that the farmers who want to plant fruitful plants should prepare the fields at present and simultaneously start digging pits for planting saplings in the fields during the rainy season. Fill the pits 10 cm high above the ground by mixing rotten dung manure, termite medicine and recommended amount of fertilizer with soil. Arrange the seeds of improved varieties of direct sown vegetables and prepare the field according to the plan. Prepare seedlings of Kharif Latavali vegetables like gourd, kumhada in bags and choose good variety for planting bitter gourd, barbatti and make sure to plant the crop by med drain method, prepare the field for planting kundru and parwal. Mulching should be done in the planted crop of ginger and turmeric and rectify the drainage before the rains.

To protect chickens from Ranikhet disease, agricultural scientists get the first vaccine F-1 within seven days and the second vaccine R-2B at eight weeks of age. Increase the quantity of drinking water for chickens by 3-4 times during the summer season. Feed animals by mixing 50 to 60 grams of salt in water and increase the amount of grain mixture in the diet of milch animals. Vaccination of cattle should be done to prevent galghotu and lame disease.
