Wed, Oct 6, 2021: Honored to announce that I am your new Miss World Canada and will be representing Canada at the 71st Miss World competition. After taking time to reflect on my experience in Toronto, I wanted to write my first thank you to all of the delegates whom I spent the week getting to know. It truly was a sisterhood like no other. I have been in several pageants where there is often bad energy after the competition, but I can honestly say these girls were genuine and kind through the end. I feel like I actually got the chance to get to know all of the girls at least a little and I couldn’t be more grateful to be apart of such a supportive group of women. Learning about the projects these ladies have been working on is exactly why I love pageants. To be surrounded by some of the most ambitious and inspiring women in Canada is truly a source of motivation like no other. Each one of these women had their own message to share and each as important as my own and I encourage my followers to check out the amazing things they have achieved. You can find their accounts on the @missworldcnd page and more information about each of the delegates. Thank you ladies for an unforgettable week of late nights, laughter, and kindness.

Jaime VandenBerg Awarded Queen Elizabeth II Platnum Jubilee
Thu, Dec 22, 2022: Jaime VandenBerg today announced in her social profiles: What an honor to be a Queen Elizabeth II Platnum Jubilee Medal recipient. Thank you YWCA Lethbridge and Deputy Mayor Ryan Parker for presenting the medal to me at City of Lethbridge- City Hall yesterday. Being awarded this medal for making a significant contribution to my community is an hour I will never forget.
After facing a revolver and being shot at point blank, I didn’t think I would get to see another day. But thanks to the kindness of a complete stranger who intervened, the bullet missed me and I am here today. Since then, I have continued to fight gender-based violence more rigorously through my platform as Miss World Canada. I began with launching a non-profit organization with my little sister to offer Canadian Women’s History classes because I believe the teaching equality is the root of fighting inequality, then I began offering wellness meetings for forigners in Latin America to encourage safe solo travelling, then I brought care packages to a village of women with the mayor of Coban in Guatemala and after I launched Pico for a Purpose. Pico for a Purpose was a fundraiser and awareness campaign that mirrored the experience of being a survivor of violence in which I summited the highest peak in Mexico and donated over $3000 to two organizations that help fight gender-based violence.
Moving forward, I am happy to announce my next fundraiser in a series of Peaks of Purpose, I will climb Nevado de Colima to raise funds to establish a free boxing program for local women in Mexico City. Donate at: https://gofund.me/176db3a3
After my near death experience, I felt helpless; like my power had been stolen. When I began boxing, I wanted to feel stronger, it wasn’t about weaponizing myself or learning how to fight, it was about remembering the power I have within me. I want to help other women remember their power and see feel how strong they really are.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me in fighting gender-based violence, I could not have done it without my community here in Lethbridge, my pageant community across the nation and my mountain climbing and boxing communities abroad. Your support is a daily reminder that I am meant to be here, and that my dream of eliminating violence is possible.
Thank you www.sophiegrace.ca a Calgary local clothing company for gifting me this beautiful white for the award presentation.
