Miss Houston USA 2023, Lluvia Camila Alzate wins Miss Texas USA 2023 Crown

Sat, Jul 15, 2023: Houston's Lluvia Alzate is crowned just now by the The Reigning Queen Allison Drake Miss Texas USA 2022 as her successor, Miss Texas USA 2023. Alzate has won over 89 Contestants at the end of Grand Finale in the pageant venue Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria, the 4-star hotel at Post Oak Blvd, Houston today on Saturday, July 15th, 2023 which started at 8pm LIVE @ Pageantvision.com.

My heart is filled with so much gratitude by sharing my story and knowing that it can inspire many others out there and give them hope.

Newly crowned  Lluvia Alzate Miss Texas USA 2023 will represent her TX State at the upcoming Miss USA 2023 Pageant where The reigning queen R'Bonney Gabriel Miss Texas USA 2022, Miss USA 2022 & Miss Universe 2022 will crown her successor at the end of Grand Finale in the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. New Queen Lluvia Alzate is The First Miss Texas USA in Dr. Anne Jakrajutatip Miss Universe Ownership.

New TX Queen Lluvia Alzate is the 72ND Miss USA 2023 Contestant and The 47TH Entry to The Class of Miss USA 2023. The Court of New Queen has Runners-up, Mary Sickler 1st Runner-up, Miss Northwest Houston USA; Lillian Claire Perez 2nd Runner-up, Miss San Antonio USA Taylor Lauren 3rd Runner-up, Davis Miss Collin County USA, and Samantha Havenstrite Miss Post Oak USA. Miss Houston Pageant has commented on her win "we are so incredibly proud of you and couldn’t be more excited for your journey as Miss Texas." Alzate is Colombian who has studied at University of Houston and Cypress Falls High School. She lives in Houston, Texas and her hometown is Cali, Colombia.

Alzate works as Houston local realtor at Lluvia Houston Realtor. She was crowned Miss Houston USA 2023 on Sunday February 19, 2023 at Hilton Houston Post Oak after winning over 36 Contestants. She succeeded Samantha Havenstrite Miss Houston USA 2022.

Lluvia Alzate is promoter of ViveLaVida Movement that focuses on spreading ALS awareness and creating a safe environment for others in similar situations to not feel alone.

Lluvia Alzate, Miss Texas USA 2023, originally from Colombia, migrated to the U.S. at age 5 with her family to pursuit the “American Dream.” She settled in Texas where she earned a Bachelor’s in Business Finance from the University of Houston.

Lluvia’s life took a profound turn when her mother was diagnosed with ALS, leading Lluvia to become a full-time caregiver. She cherished every moment with her mom until her passing in December 2022. These experiences strengthened their bond and ignited her commitment to inspire others grappling with similar challenges.

Partnering with the national and Texas ALS associations, Lluvia’s mission revolves around sharing her narrative of grit and perseverance. She aims to kindle hope and determination, encouraging individuals to relentlessly pursue their aspirations in spite of adversities.

Lluvia’s next big goal is to achieve her financial licenses and educate people of all ages on finance literacy.

Contestant's Statement

In 2019, my life took an unexpected turn... My mom was diagnosed with ALS, a disease I knew little about and had no idea of the challenges that lay ahead. Instantly, I became a full-time caregiver, witnessing my mom's gradual deterioration.

I knew then that change was needed, and I felt compelled to raise my voice. In honor of my mom and all those battling this cruel disease, I created the Vive La Vida initiative- a movement to raise awareness, inspire change, and provide support in the fight against ALS.

As ALS Awareness Month in May came to a close, today, on June 2nd, we commemorate Lou Gehrig's Day. This event has given me an opportunity to amplify my voice, and I am immensely grateful to each and every one of you for being a part of it. Together, let's continue to raise awareness, inspire change, and make a difference.

In honor of #internationalwomansday, we wanted to highlight a woman who we admire that is making a meaningful impact within an important organization.

Our very own Miss Houston, Lluvia, shares what @als is and how it’s impacted her life.

“ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive and fatal neurological disease that affects the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles.

This disease is very personal and dear to my heart because I had to become a full-time caregiver to my mother who was diagnosed with ALS and passed away this past December after her three year battle. This time was extremely challenging to watch my once-exceptionally healthy mother become 100% paralyzed and lose her complete ability to do even the most basic tasks.

Being an ALS Advocate is a deeply meaningful and impactful role for me because not only have I seen and experienced firsthand the toll ALS can have on an individual and a family, but it has also allowed me to connect with others, provide support and resources, and actively work towards finding a cure or effective treatments for ALS.”

As an ALS advocate, lLuvia has participated in local walks and fundraising events, volunteered her time within the organization, and has worked with the ALS Association of Texas to support advocacy efforts and to advocate for increased funding for research and better access to care for those with ALS.

Additionally, in honor of her mom, she has created a movement called Vive la Vida which is committed to sharing information about ALS and its impact on individuals and families through social media and other communication channels.
