ALASKA AND NEW YORK WIN PRELIMINARY AWARDS AT THE FIRST NIGHT OF THE 100th ANNIVERSARY MISS AMERICA COMPETITION
UNCASVILLE, CONN. (December 12, 2021) - On Sunday, December 12, the first of two preliminary nights of competition for the 100th Anniversary Miss America took place in the Mohegan Sun Earth Expo & Convention Center in Uncasville, Conn., where 51 candidates representing the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia were vying for the crown and a $100,000 college scholarship. Tune in tomorrow for the second night of the preliminary competition as the Miss America goes live again on watchmissamerica.com at 7:00PM ET.
Fifty-one outstanding women are competing for the job of Miss America 2022 and over $435,500 in scholarships this week, including a record $100,000 scholarship for the winner. The final night of the 100th Anniversary Miss America competition will air live on NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock, on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at 8:00PM ET, from the award-winning 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena. This year’s competition will return with a new and enhanced format allowing audiences to stream the event live across all time zones for the first time ever.

Sydney Park
Sydney Park, representing New York, was named the competition talent winner from preliminary night one and was awarded a $2,500 scholarship courtesy of Kawai Piano.


Emma Broyles
Emma Broyles, representing Alaska, was named the social impact pitch winner from preliminary night one and was awarded a $1,000 scholarship courtesy of IT Help, Inc.
