Sun, Mar 19, 2023: Today Porongo became The World Beauty Center with Flying Colors of Global Beauty Queens in Mejor Traje de Típico, The Presentation of Typical Costume Show. This Sunday, Porongo was the center of culture, tradition and beauty. The candidates for Spanish-American Queen, Reina Hispanoamericana 2023 Contestants visited several tourist attractions in this municipality that received them with great affection.

The day began with a tour of the La Rinconada eco-park, where they enjoyed the natural beauty of this site and shared a delicious majadito.
In the afternoon, they arrived at the main square of Porongo, where they tasted a delicious achachairú soda; there the people received them with great joy and with the hospitality that characterizes the porongueños.

The neighbors applauded the queens and accompanied them to the San Juan Bautista church, where they received the blessing of Father Calixto Candia.
Later, they visited the house of culture "Vidal Sosa", in this historic place they were received with coffee, arepas, rice empanadas, masaco and cuñapé.
The highlight of the day was the election of the best typical costume of the contest, held in the main square of Porongo, an event open to the public that brought together hundreds of families.

Mayor Neptaly Mendoza highlighted the culture and talent of the 29 candidates for the crown, who showed the best of their country in a colorful night.

“Porongo receives them with great emotion and with the hospitality that characterizes us. It is a privilege for the town, to have been designated the venue for an important cultural event such as the election of the best typical costume of the contest. Take the love of all the people who will always receive you with open arms. For us they are all winners, congratulations for so much talent”, said the mayor.

The winner of the best typical costume was the representative of Guatemala, Camila Riveiro, who wore a costume called "Itzayana of eternal spring", inspired by the culture and warmth of her land, which was made by artisans from her country.

On behalf of the candidates, Andrea Bazarte, the current Spanish-American Queen who will deliver the crown this year, thanked the Mayor of Porongo for all the attention the misses received this Sunday in the municipality.

“On behalf of all the participants, I thank you for the welcome and warmth of your people. Grateful to the authorities for the care, we take Porongo with us in our hearts. It is a charming place”, concluded the Spanish-American Queen.
