The new Miss MSUSA is.. Sydney Russell, the 3rd runner-up Miss MS USA 2022 and Jovani IT Girl Cycle 12 Finalist

Sat, Apr 1st, 2023: The Reigning Queen Hailey White Miss Mississippi USA 2022 has just crowned her successor, the Winner Against 27 Contestants, Miss Lauderdale County USA, Sydney Russell as Miss Mississippi USA 2023 at the end of Grand Finale in Pearl River Resort Choctaw in Philadelphia on Sat, Apr 1st, 2023 which started at 4:00pm CDT.

The Newly Crowned Sydney Russell Miss Mississippi USA 2023 is the 72ND Miss USA 2023 Contestant. She will represent her MS State at the upcoming Miss USA 2023 Pageant where the reigning queen R'Bonney Gabriel Miss Texas USA 2022, Miss USA 2022 & Miss Universe 2022 will crown her successor at the end of Grand Finale in the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. New Queen Sydney Russell is The First Miss Mississippi USA in Dr. Anne Jakrajutatip Miss Universe Ownership. Sydney did her schooling at West Lauderdale High School and currently she lives in Meridian, Mississippi.

Sydney Russell is a 24-year-old graduate student finalizing her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University Of Mississippi Medical Center. She believes “Health is Wealth”, so she launched a health literacy platform to bridge the gap between medical jargon and everyday language making the world of healthcare less intimidating and more accessible!

Sydney’s work in pharmacy revealed to her how many ailments are preventable through nutrition and lifestyle. In order to reach her goal of becoming the “Pharmacist you don’t need to see”, Sydney launched her own YouTube channel to educate people on holistic strategies that can go hand-in-hand with healthcare.

Faith, family, and hard work are the pillars of Sydney’s life, and she is determined to make a positive impact in the world as both a medical professional and the next Miss USA!

Contestant's Statement

Miss Lauderdale County USA is competition bound!! The big event is less than 10 days away and today is the first day of the social media challenge!! On April 1 and April 2 at the Pearl River Resort in Choctaw, MS, I will walk out onto the stage representing the most amazing community in the state.

It has been an amazing experience representing my community as Miss Lauderdale County USA. To my family, friends, and supporters I do not have enough words to express how truly grateful to God I am for placing each one of you in my life. I am so overwhelmed by your generosity, your kindness, your encouragement, and completely humbled by your many prayers. Again, thank you for everything and I promise to try my hardest to make you proud.

“You were born for such a time as this.” (Esther 4:14). This is a scripture that my mom has quoted to me so frequently in my life through the good times and the bad times. Regardless of the outcome, the reassurance that this promise provides remains unchanging. It is my dream, my hope, and my prayer to become your new Miss Mississippi USA!!

It would mean the world to me to have every last one of you sitting in the audience during the competition. I could not have gotten this far without you. Let’s finish this thing together!

As I took this photo, these two scriptures played again and again in my head. This photo was taken right after I had just finished interviewing for a job I had dreamed of for my entire life, Miss MS USA 2022. These scriptures reminded me not only was there no need to worry about what was going to happen later on that weekend, but also to trust God with every fiber of my being, and he will place me on the path made just for me in His divine timing. This picture reminds me of just how strong, resilient, and powerful I truly am, which is why I have chosen it to be my official headshot for Miss Mississippi USA 2023
